My Knitting Library
You usually have to sell your first born child to buy some 100% natural qiviut yarn (retails for $60 - $90 depending on fiber content and weight). I found two skeins of this arctic gold selling for $28.00 (a bargain) so I bought it.
I've been dying to knit with qiviut yarn after reading about how much softer and warmer musk ox yarn is compared to cashmere. Everything I've read is correct: it's like butter in your hands and cashmere feels like regular wool. Qiviut is hypoallergenic, will not shrink, is definitely softer than cashmere and very warm.
The photo shows the scarf being knit with a simple seed stitch pattern but I have since changed it to a 4 stitch checkerboard design using 4 knit, 4 purl, etc to creat a more distinct design. 100% qiviut yarn has more 'loft' than originally expected and the small stitch pattern was getting lost.
