My father-in-law is a golf addict now that he has retired. I decided to hand-knit a couple of golf club covers as his birthday gift this year. Of course I just had to use his Scottish heritage as the focal point in my design, especially since my in-laws belong to a "Scottish" country club in Florida. :)
To ensure that I matched the colors in the MacKay tartan exactly, I took my plaque of the MacKay Family Crest with me to my least favorite local yarn shop in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. With a lot of searching, I finally found some wool yarn that was an exact match to the small swatch on my crest.
The wool that I used for this particular golf club cover was:
- Brown Sheep Company Lamb's Pride in Deep Pine (85% wool/ 15% mohair)
- Brown Sheep Company Lamb's Pride in Onyx (85% wool/ 15% mohair)
- Plymouth Yarn Co. Galway in Dark Navy Blue (100% wool)
